Mijn naam is Joseph Kamau (1976). Ik ben het 6e kind in een gezin van 12 kinderen, getrouwd en vader van 2 zonen en 1 geadopteerde zoon.
Ik heb een PhD Graduate Fellow – Health Communication (door COVID19 uitgestelde opleiding) gevolgd aan de Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Master of Arts in Psychology van Daystar University, Bachelor of Education van St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, VS. Postdoctoraal certificaat in begeleiding en counseling – Universiteit van Nairobi.
Ik ben geregistreerd Associate Counsellor bij Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA) Lid van de American Psychological Association (APA). Momenteel werkzaam als parttime docent en senior counsellor aan de University.
Ik heb uitgebreide vaardigheden, ervaring en sterke competenties in diverse mengereltateerde gerelateerde thema’s. In het bijzonder heb ik meer dan 14 jaar ervaring in gemeenschapsontwikkelingswerk, met name in counseling en rehabilitatie van jonge delinquenten in een succesvol programma dat wordt uitgevoerd door lokale en internationale partners.
Mijn media-betrokkenheid bij het confronteren van opkomende psychosociale en culturele conflicten tussen verschillende levensgeneraties is duidelijk in radio- en televisietalkshows. Ik heb met succes praktijkvoorbeelden uit deze veldervaringen gebruikt bij het onderwijzen van niet-afgestuurde studenten – Psychologiegerelateerde eenheden van de School of Public Health: “Mental Health”, “Behavioral Science” “Conflict Management” en “Health Education and Promotion” met behulp van Problem Based Learning Approach. 9*

Op dit moment werk ik met jongeren en ouders op de volgende gebieden:
– Het vaststellen van basis geestelijke gezondheid voor alle en familiezaken
– Ontwikkelen van duurzaam mentorschap door middel van menselijke waarden, studiegewoonten en karaktervorming.
– Rehabilitatie, Verzoening, Reïntegratie en Begeleiding.
– Het beheren van opkomende psychosociale problemen (jongeren in conflict met de wet, het beheersen van schermverslaving, sociale en examenangst, het beheersen van woede en slecht temperament onder anderen)
